CELEBRATION OF NAVRATRI
AND DASSERA AT DEVKRUPA ASHRAM

The festival of Navratri and Dassera were celebrated with great joy, dancing and enthusiasm by the children at Devkrupa Ashram, Waghodia.

From the 16th of October onward everyday the children danced to the hearts content on the lovely tunes of various garba and remix songs. Along with the garba the children also danced the tribal dance which is a part of their culture.

Everyday the garba would begin with a solemn aarti followed by dance. Sweets were given to children sponsored by the Sisters of Mother Teresa.

On the festival of Dassera the children prepared a 10 headed Ravan of clothes and grass and put a lot of crackers and bombs in it. In the evening after dinner the children burnt Ravan symbolizing the victory of good over evil, darkness over light.

The children were given the traditional fafda and jalebi sponsored by Drs. Anil Roy and John Falliero of Dhiraj Hospital. The children ate with joy. Following the custom of the Ashram the children prayed with knees bent for all the benefactors and said a special prayer for Drs. Anil and John.

After the burning of Ravan the children were shown a movie.
